Follow the Edges
Saturday, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Drawing anything realistically requires following the edge or contour of it with our eyes.  This simple action can reveal everything about drawing.  This fun, easy, and powerful course will show you how to activate the drawing part of your brain simply by following the edges.

Drawing in 3-D: Value and Shading
Saturday, 9:00am - 12:00pm

This course will teach you how to create the illusion of three-dimensions on the two-dimensional surface of paper. Understand how light, value, and contrast reveal 3-D form to the eyes. Use this information to shade drawings and achieve a 3-dimensional effect.

Drawing in 3-D: Measuring Proportion
Saturday, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Wondering how to begin a drawing?  Trying to get the size right?  Learn step by step how to begin a drawing in the right scale and maintain or manipulate the scale throughout the drawing.

Drawing in 3-D: Perspective, Angles, and the Picture Plane
Saturday, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Diagonal lines are the building blocks of depth and distance.  This is especially important for drawing landscapes.  There are 360 degrees to diagonals to choose from.  This course teaches how to choose the right angles to achieve a desired effect. Learn how to observe angles in three-dimensional space and place them on paper.  The course will also cover the basics of one-, two-, and three-point perspective.

Realistic Portraits
Saturday and Saturday, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Put your new drawing skills to work by creating a portrait.  Bring a quality photo of a pet, person, or child to class.  Over these two classes I will guide you through the process of creating a likeness.

* It is suggested but not required that students take this class after one or more of the Drawing Technique classes.
